If you are in the area and in need of a new smile, we offer dentures to patients who are looking to replace missing teeth.
What Are Dentures?
A denture (often referred to as a “plate”) is a removable appliance designed to replace your missing teeth. Regardless of how you lost your teeth, a denture is beneficial for your overall health and well-being. Dentures make it easier to chew and talk. When you are missing teeth your facial muscles can sag and make you look older. Dentures fill in your face and can improve your profile.
Types Of Dentures
We understand that every patient has different needs and that is why we are proud to provide different options when it comes to dentures. If you think you are a candidate for dentures we encourage you to read below about our options:
- Conventional Denture: Created for you after all of your teeth have been removed and your tissue has healed. Creating a good denture takes about a month and may require several adjustments after it has been given to you.
- Immediate Denture: When going without teeth is not an option, an immediate denture can be created. These dentures will be placed immediately following the removal of your teeth. Because an immediate denture will typically not fit as well as it was when first placed due to changes in the tissues and jaw once the healing process has taken place, the denture may need to be refitted or replaced.
- Implant Retained Denture: The new standard of care for entire arch replacement; 2-4 implants will be placed and the denture will “snap” into place. The use of implants eliminates the need for denture adhesives. Implants also make it noticeably easier to chew food because the denture fits more securely.
- Partial Denture: Partial dentures (“partial plate”) can be created when you have viable teeth you do not wish to lose, but are missing many other teeth. Partial dentures can be used for the upper and lower jaw. Complete tissue healing is needed to ensure proper fit.
New dentures can be uncomfortable to wear wherein they may need to be readjusted. Even patients who have previously worn dentures, will need their new dentures readjusted.
